We want to spread the word about the 2015 Martz Winter Symposium being held this February at the CU-Boulder School of Law. Presented by the Getches Wilkinson Center for Natural Resources, Energy, and the Environment (GWC), the conference will focus on issues that are of special interest to us here at the Mortenson Center.
The symposium will explore the idea that, on critical issues such as climate change, water scarcity, food security and the like, global institutions and governments are failing to adequately and appropriately meet these challenges and make progress. Instead, smaller groups — be they local or tribal governments, NGOs, entrepreneurs, philanthropists, and so on — are driving innovation and solutions. The symposium will look at what is behind these “bottom-up” mechanics and discuss ways to improve the “filter-up” process so that local ideas can go global.
We think this will be an exciting and informative event, and we look forward to seeing you there.
